活動報告

本学は9月7日、岡山大学Society5.0シンポジウム「AI×医療×工学～AI医療応用最前線～」をオンラインで開催し、学生・教職員、一般の方など約180人が参加しました。このシンポジウムは、医療AI人材育成プログラム（以下、本プログラム）と、「岡山大学サイバーフィジカル情報応用研究コア（CYPHER）」、「おかやまAI・セキュアIoT共創コンソーシアム（OASIS）」、「おかやまIoT・AI・セキュリティ講座」の4者共催で開催されました。

シンポジウム開会にあたり、那須保友理事（研究担当）・副学長からプログラムのご紹介をいただくとともに、「これからあらゆる業界でAI人材育成が必要課題となってくる。岡山大学もフロントランナーとして取り組んでいきたい。」とご挨拶いただきました。その後、岡山大学のDX構想に関して、阿部匡伸　理事（特命（デジタルトランスフォーメーション推進）担当）・副学長よりご説明いただき、主催4組織のそれぞれの活動について、馬場　謙介教授、高橋規一教授、野上保之教授より紹介が行われ、本プログラムに関しては、神崎浩孝准教授から、概要や体制、教育コースの内容等について紹介いただきました。

また、本学で行われている医療におけるAIの応用研究の事例紹介として、岡山大学・学術研究院自然科学学域の諸岡健一教授から、画像情報処理による医療AIについてお話いただき、学術研究院ヘルスシステム統合科学学域の原　直助教からは、音声情報処理におけるAI技術の進化と医療応用の可能性についてご講演いただきました。いずれも医療分野においてAIを応用する研究で、本学の医工連携を元にした、異分野融合型研究の一端であり、AIの医療応用の最前線について、大変興味深い成果発表となりました。

その後の特別講演では、本プログラムで「AI教育プログラム（オンデマンド講座）」をご提供いただいている、株式会社キカガクの西沢衛副社長より、「AI民主化の時代に求められる人材育成」と題したご講演をただきました。本プログラムの趣旨の一つである「産学連携」の象徴的な講演となりました。

最後は、本プロジェクト岡山大学代表である、豊岡伸一医学部長によるご挨拶で、「AI民主化の時代となって、AIを理解してしっかり利活用することが求められる。今回のような取り組みを通して、AIを活用できる人材の育成を、産官学で進めていくことが大切である」とお話いただき、本シンポジウムは盛会裏に閉会しました。

On September 7, we held the Okayama University Society 5.0 Symposium “AI x Medicine x Engineering – Frontiers of AI Medical Applications” online, attended by about 180 people including students, faculty members, and the general public. This symposium was co-hosted by the Medical AI Human Resource Development Program (hereinafter referred to as “the Program”), the Okayama University Cyber-Physical Engineering informatics Research core (CYPHER), the Okayama AI Secure IoT Co-creation ConSortium (OASIS), and the Okayama IoT, AI, and Security Laboratory.

At the opening of the symposium, Dr. Yasutomo Nasu, Director (Research) and Vice President of Okayama University, introduced the program and said, “From now on, AI human resource development will become a necessary issue in all industries. We at Okayama University would like to be a front-runner in this field. Professors Kensuke Baba, Norikazu Takahashi, and Yasuyuki Nogami introduced the activities of each of organizations, and Associate Professor Hirotaka Kanzaki spoke about this program. Associate professor Hirotaka Kanzaki gave an overview of the program, its structure, and the content of the educational courses.

Professor Kenichi Morooka of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University gave a lecture on medical AI using image information processing, and Assistant Professor Tadashi Hara of the Graduate School of Health System Integration Sciences, Okayama University gave a lecture on the evolution of AI technology in speech information processing and its potential for medical applications. Both of these presentations were on the application of AI in the medical field, and were part of the University’s interdisciplinary research based on collaboration between medicine and engineering, making them very interesting presentations on the forefront of medical applications of AI.

In the special lecture that followed, Mr. Mamoru Nishizawa, Vice President of KIKAGAKU Corporation, which provides the AI education program (on-demand courses) for this program, gave a lecture titled “Human Resource Development in the Age of AI Democratization. The lecture was symbolic of the “industry-university collaboration” that is one of the objectives of this program.

Prof. Shinichi Toyooka, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Okayama University, who is the representative of this project, concluded his speech by saying, “In this age of AI democratization, we need to understand AI and make good use of it. It is important that industry, government, and academia work together to develop human resources who can utilize AI through initiatives such as this one,” he said, closing the symposium on a high note.
